I’m hoping this bag will be a starting place, a stepping stone, a reminder … to seek, support, and listen to the vibrant Indigenous community around us.
Collect your knowledge into this bright orange tote.
Carry it as a statement to the world, but most importantly to yourself, as a reminder to keep learning.
50% of sales will be donated to The Orange Shirt Day Society. For more information visit their website www.OrangeShirtDay.org
I will also add a section to the Topsail Canvas website with ideas for further learning.
Have you read Phyllis Webstad’s story about the original orange shirt?
The bags will be available on Thursday July 7th at 7pm ADT.
No pre-orders or holds prior to the release time. I don’t expect them to sell crazy fast, but you never know.
There are 20 of the totes and 12 of the pouches.
A note about the fabric: this is a mid weight cotton canvas, which is softer than my regular heavyweight canvas. So these totes are much more flexible and will pack away nicely, but definitely won’t stand up on their own. However, they are strong and will carry a lot of weight.
For further resources on Indigenous awareness and to read Phyllis' Story, I have made a list here on the Topsail Canvas website. Go up to the Main Menu and click Info, then Support Indigenous Peoples.
